On 4th October 2008 the
Boys’ Brigade movement was exactly 125 years old. The founder was
William Alexander Smith who held the first meeting at 8pm in the North
Woodside Mission Halls in Glasgow. Since that first meeting the BB has
grown into a world wide organisation with companies in places like
America, Canada and Africa.
To celebrate 125 years the four
remaining Hawick companies opened a shop in Hawick for the first week in
October displaying memorabilia from the previous six Hawick companies,
The BB Band, The BB Camps, The Battalion and the newly restarted 1st
Denholm company.
On Sunday 5th October 1st
Denholm joined the four Hawick companies for a parade to Wilton Church.
There was an excellent attendance with over 125 Boys, Girl and Officers.
This was the first BB Church Parade in the town for over 20 years and
something we hope to continue.
